Nepal Floods: What Ria is Doing to Help

What Is Happening
We stand in solidarity with the people affected by the floods in Nepal.
On the morning of August 26, a devastating flash flood hit the districts of Rasuwa and Nuwakot in northern Nepal. The incident, reportedly triggered by the collapse of a glacier, impacted thousands of individuals.
The Bhotekoshi river and its affluents overflowed, causing unimaginable damage to infrastructure, services, and inhabitants of the area.
While the full extent of this tragedy is still being evaluated, we know that hundreds of families have lost contact with loved ones and have seen their homes destroyed by the water.
What We Are Doing to Help
Our thoughts are with the communities across Nepal who are facing loss and uncertainty in the aftermath of the disaster.
We know that distance can make moments like these especially difficult, as they strive to support friends and family from afar.
To help ease that burden, Ria is enabling zero-fee money transfers through our digital channels from Malaysia, Japan, and Singapore to Nepal until September 15, 2026.
Fees are also waived for anyone making a donation to designated Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund accounts with the NEPALRELIEF26 code from Ria stores in Malaysia and Singapore.
During times of crisis, remittances are more than financial support. They can provide food, shelter, medicine, and peace of mind. By waiving these fees, we want to ensure more of every transfer reaches the people who need it most.
Ria’s partner, Save the Children, is on the ground providing vital emergency relief to local communities. Their team is currently delivering essential goods to affected families while also working on a long-term plan to ensure that support lasts beyond the next few days and continues helping children as the country starts rebuilding.
