Life wasn’t always easy for Sadio Mané. Born in Bambali to Guinean parents, Mané always dreamt of one day becoming a professional footballer, despite his father discouraging him from playing the game to focus on his studies.

From there, he would move up north and sign with legendary club Liverpool, where major success began to roll in – in large part thanks to Mané’s unrelenting work rate, which paired with his natural football abilities in the left winger position made for a lethal on-pitch combination.

It was at Liverpool where Sadio Mané began to cement his greatness as one of the world’s best players, even managing to finish runner-up at the prestigious Ballon d’Or in 2022 – the second African player to make it to the podium after 1995 winner George Weah. His current club is Al-Nassr, where he’s been since 2023.

But sadly, they would not be able to save his life.
