How a small shop became one of the world’s largest money transfer services

1987

The first Ria store opens in New York City with one goal: to help people send money to their loved ones wherever they are.

1993-2006

Ria expands into Spain, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Belgium, and Switzerland.

2007

Euronet Worldwide, a leader in secure electronic financial transaction processing, acquires Ria.

2010-2011

Ria expands into India and Senegal.

2012

We're online! Ria announces RiaMoneyTransfer.com.

2014

Walmart partners with Ria to create Walmart-2-Walmart, a money transfer service within the U.S. Euronet acquires HiFX, a UK-based payments provider and foreign exchange broker.

2015

Euronet acquires IME. Ria also expands into the Middle East and Malaysia. Euronet acquires XE, a Canadian company providing online foreign exchange tools and services.

2016

The partnership with Walmart expands to Chile through Lider brand supermarkets.

2017

Ria celebrates 30 years and opens a new cash payment network in India. Asda Money Transfer, which uses Ria, launches in the UK.

2024

Ria Money Transfer Panama S. de R.L. is founded.

2025

Ria Panama obtains its Money Transfer House license from the Ministry of Commerce and Industries of Panama.

Ria Panama opens its services to the public.
