Lithuanian License

About the switch to Lithuanian license

Your needs matter most to us. To make sure Brexit doesn't affect you or our other European customers, we're moving non-UK customers from our UK money transfer license to a European license based in Lithuania. This change happens by December 31, 2020.

But what does this mean for you

Not much, really. Nothing changes about how you use Ria Money Transfer, but we wanted to answer a few questions to keep everything transparent.

Why is Ria moving my account to a European company?

We're moving your account so you can keep sending money across Europe with Ria. When Britain left the European Union, companies like us that used a UK license across Europe had to move customers to an active license within the EU. It's mostly paperwork behind the scenes to keep our service running smoothly.

What happens when my account is transferred?

Your account will now be under our Lithuanian money transfer license instead of the UK one. This won't change how you use the Ria Money Transfer app or website. Your information and money stay safe, just as they always have. We do need to transfer your personal data, and we'll share more details about that soon.

Why can't I use my driver's license for transfers anymore?

Under Lithuanian local rules, all customers must use a passport, residence permit, or ID card for money transfers. Uploading a new ID document with OnFido verification only takes a few minutes.

I uploaded a new ID with OnFido, but I haven't heard back about my verification status. What's taking so long?

Depending on photo quality and other factors, verifying customer identity sometimes takes a bit longer. If you run into trouble with this process, our team is happy to help.

Are the terms of service changing?

Yes, but the changes are minimal. To keep using our service, you'll need to accept both the updated terms of service and privacy policy. You'll be asked to accept them when you open the app.

Will my account information be shared with Lithuanian authorities?

We only share information the law requires us to.

If you have questions, reach out to our customer support team. We appreciate your help with this change and thank you for trusting Ria.
